Linda
riding Torpedo at a dressage show
|
Linda
Bair has
been a long-time ASAP volunteer. She generously promotes
ASAP and recruits new adopters. She also lends out
her farm to foster some of our many horses who are
in between homes. Linda herself has adopted two Standardbreds
and she loves them. People like Linda make ASAP work,
and we cannot thank her enough! |
|
Linda
grew up in Latin America where her father was in the
State Department. She tells us, "We had lots
of time riding the beaches of Brasil and then getting
involved in dressage and jumping as teenagers in Colombia
with thoroughbreds - often retired from racing so
the concept of retraining was not new to me, just
very dusty!!!.

Torpedo

| When
I moved to Northern Minnesota in 1985, I felt a strong desire
to have horses again and so for many years ran a ranch that
offered day camps for small groups of kids and educational
tours of the state forest on horseback as well. With
the University of Minnesota in partnership providing interns
from the equine program over the years and many new recruits
into the horse world out of my camps, I have felt very blessed
with turning my life's dream into an opportunity to pass
on my experience and enthusiasm for a wonderful animal on
to the next generations. |
Stormy
|
Then,
after scaling back last year, I found the ASAP website
and it just grabbed my attention. With Stormy and
Torpedo, one a pacer and one a trotter my sister and
I have found a new way to move on with our riding
and enjoyment of horses. I am now on a ranch of 120
acres caring for 15 horses - 7 of which are mine,
4 cats and two dogs. I am very involved in my township
and trying to keep our state forests from being run
over by ATV's. That is another of my passions. |
|
This
year I was able to take horses and camp a great
deal. All the while, Torpedo and I were working
towards a dressage show in Wisconsin in September.
We did very well!!! I am very grateful for what
Susan and all the rest of you are doing with this
great breed."
