Help The ASAP By Ordering A Shirt!
Hear
our humble prayer, O God, for our friends the animals. Especially
for animals who are suffering, for animals that are overworked,
underfed, cruelly treated: for all wistful creatures in captivity
that beat their wings against bars. For any that are hunted and lost
or deserted or frightened or hungry, for all that must be put to
death. We entreat for them all the mercy and pity, and for those who
deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and
kindly words. Make us, ourselves; to be true friends to animals and
so share the blessings of the merciful. --Albert

Program

Thank you
for visiting the website of the American Standardbred Adoption
Program (ASAP), a non-profit organization serving Wisconsin,
Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Michigan as well as other states. On
these pages you will meet many wonderful horses who need a second
chance, a new start, someone like you to care for them. See their
pictures, read their stories, and come out to the farm to visit them
in person. Owners donate their horses to the program because they
want them to have a lifetime of care. If you love horses, please
consider adopting today--or, if possible, rescuing or sponsoring a
sanctuary horse.
Unfortunately, unwanted horses
are all too common; many are neglected, abused, and even slaughtered
(click here for an online pamphlet from
equineadvocates.com). Sadly, these horses suffer or
perish for want of only one thing: a loving home. If you have
some extra space in your heart and in your life, start a
relationship with an equine friend. Why delay? Several homeless
horses are waiting for you this very minute.
If you are
unable to provide a home for a horse at this time, you can show your
love with a gift of money, time or supplies. This animal welfare
organization is run completely by volunteers (headed by the Wellman
family which donates their farm, an office, and much more). Without
your support in the form of adoptions and donations, ASAP would not
exist; the 100 horses per year that the program helps would be the
ones to lose out. ASAP will continue to do everything within its
means to help prevent such suffering--but we cannot do it alone.
Good intentions are the foundation of this charity, but caring for
horses requires funding on a day by day basis. The ASAP farm and our
network of foster farms can only do so much on a limited budget. If
you can toss a few coins in the hat, you can rest assured that you
are helping a good cause. Your donation could make the difference
between life and death for a horse, literally.
Thanks to
those who have already joined the ASAP family and welcome to those
of you who are just getting to know us.
A.S.A.P. is recognized
as a 501(C)(3) charitable organization.

About ASAP
The American Standardbred Adoption
Program, Inc. was founded in 1994 by a small group of
dedicated individuals and professionals who saw a need for a
placement service for non-racing and retired Standardbreds.
The program also serves as a rescue facility and sanctuary for
abandoned, abused, or neglected horses of all breeds, and is
listed by the Humane Society of the United States as a humane
equine rescue organization. Horses of all other breeds are
accepted into placement by ASAP, Inc. Horses are adopted by
someone like you, who will give them good homes and a stable
environment. The majority of these horses are extremely fit,
beautiful to look at, and make wonderful trail riders, show
horses, and lifelong friends. A few horses, long-term
residents at the farm, require special care and need your
sponsorship.
