Lucky (3yr)

Pony gelding. Approximately 13hh. At the ASAP farm.
Gray Van Kandy (21yr)

Registered quarter horse mare. 15.2hh. Flea bitten grey with some pink on her nose. She has a nice personality--no bad habits. She's great with other horses and good with children. Has melanoma on her rear and mouth but this hasn't affected her otherwise. At the ASAP farm!
Jammer (9yr)

QH. Grade bay gelding. 14.3hh. Owner reports, "We bought him just last fall for my sister to use him as a rodeo queen horse but little did we know that he had arthritis. He is extremely well broke, neck reins, jump starts, backs like a pro, spins, trail rides, used as a heading horse. He was used out west on the ranches and rodeos. He needs someone with a gentle hand becuase of how he was roughed up previously. We haven't ridden him since his arthritis was noticed. He is super for trailering and etc." Possible companion. Please call the office for details. UPDATE (10/13): "We just put him on corta flex for one week and his condition improved greatly, we think that if he was kept on something like corta flex that he could become a light riding horse."
Blue Ribbon Winner (15yr)
STB gelding. He's a really big boy at 17hh! Bay. Easy going and very good under saddle. This horse has been with the ASAP program since 1995 - he has years under saddle and has been ridden by children and adults. He is a large bay gelding who retired from racing at age 7 when he pulled a suspensory ligament which has long since healed. He is in Wisconsin at a foster farm that is midway between Madison and Milwaukee.
Enchanted Lass (8yr)

STB mare - 16hh. Dark bay with star. Broke to ride. This mare is currently located in Nebraska. Please call the ASAP office for more details.
Taste of Wine (7yr)

STB gelding, 16hh, black. Susan reports, "He has not raced in at least two years. He was retired sound, and is the sleekest looking animal you have ever laid eyes on! He is sweet as pie, and every morning and/or evening he will race over to whoever is leaning over the fence and take their sleeve in his lips and just stand and cuddle. I am madly, hopelessly hooked on this one - he'll go fast! If he doesn't he might end up staying!!!!" At the ASAP farm.
Chance (12yr)

Registered Quarter Horse gelding - 15.2 hh. Blood bay with white star and two white socks. Chance is a real sweet horse with a great personality, excellent ground manners, and kind eye. Stands for the farrier, loads, ties, clips, bathes. Current on all shots including West Nile, teeth floated in May 2003. No bad habits or vices. Trained at age two for barrels, this gorgeous horse has been a "pasture ornament" for 9 years, and when he first arrived at ASAP in the spring, he had the habit of tossing his head and not listening to cues. It is almost as though he has forgotten the training he had early on in life. He needs to be retrained to saddle by a confident rider or sent to a trainer for a refresher course. Currently located in Whitewater, WI. Please call the ASAP office for more details. Urgent Update (10/5): Chance is now in training in Fort Atkinson, WI, with a reputable trainer. This horse has had a bad time somewhere in the past, and as a result, he's afraid of the bit and has been hard to handle. However, the trainer firmly believes that Chance, with a month of training, will become the well-behaved horse he is meant to be. After just four days of training, he has become more willing and interested in riding. He is getting better with the bit and is turning willingly. If anyone out there wants to find out more, and is willing to pay the approximate $500 for his training, ASAP will waive any adoption fee and he can be yours! Please give Chance a future!
Explosive MS (14yr)

STB mare. Bay. We've found that Missy can be a timid horse. She needs lots of reassuring. Ray Waters, trainer of many ASAP horses, came today and worked with her on the ground for 20 minutes. Her head lowered and she was smacking her lips within 2 minutes with this trainer. She has a vast learning potential! No problems trimming hooves. She's good on trails but not alone. She is very herd bound and I would recommend her for an experienced person or definetly someone who is wanting to work with her so she can gain the confidence she needs to venture out alone. UPDATE (9/15): "Missy" is still at the ASAP farm... surprisingly. This stunningly gorgeous bay mare can be a stinker to catch, but not with grain. Easy to tie, tack, and ride. Broke good for trails. Needs a leader. Occasionally spooky in new situations. Her age makes her all the wiser, but still needs an intermediate rider - not a beginnner's horse. Get on and go - the more you ride her the better she is!!! Adoption fee reduced for immediate adoption.
Taken By Surprise

STB gelding - a.k.a. "T.B.S." or "T-bone" is now available for adoption (T-bone was first adopted in 1994, when ASAP was founded!) We have had many inquiries about T-Bone, and we can understand why. This gelding is about 15.1 hands and extremely gentle and quiet. CUTE FACE. He is fondly remembered as one of the first five horses placed into the ASAP program back in 1994. He has low ringbone on a front leg, but this does not appear to affect his soundness in pasture. He would be an EXCELLENT COMPANION horse or light riding or driving horse. He does not require any special treatment for his ringbone. UPDATE (5/8): He is the perfect first kids horse for someone to ride around the yard and just love. He was also seen cantering without a limp in the arena two days ago - seen trotting and cantering well.
Cally

Saddlebred mare. 16hh. Older mare--age unknown. Sorrel with blaze. Cally acts much younger than her age. She is still winning fun races with kids on her back. She's a great trail horse and likes to lead. A five year old has been riding her. She comes when you call her. Current owner states this mare will do anything you ask of her. She may need some special diet considerations (oil with her grain to keep her weight up). Currently at a foster home near ASAP. UPDATE (9/15): Callie needs a loving home to settle in before winter. Someone with no worries about groceries for this mare is preferred - she is a hard keeper but a wise horse that will provide your family with countless hours of companionship and riding.
Emaline (6yr)

STB mare -15.2hh. Healthy and sweet. Needs someone to love her and ride her and give her attention that she deserves. She was green broke but has not been ridden in a long time. Located in foster care in Illinois. UPDATE (9/15): Emaline is in central Illinois and is a great riding horse, according to her foster family. She is a tall mare and has the looks to match her love for people. $350
Ebony (19yr)

TB, 16.2 h, all black with 1/2 moon on forehead. Western broke. Healthy and up-to-date with all shotes. Great looks and great personality. In Maple Park, IL.
Shay N Tell

Shay N Tell is a beautiful Paint stock filly from the same breeder as April. She is at the ASAP farm. UPDATE (9/15): This yearling breeding stock Paint filly is becoming more friendly by the day. Her mom was 16 hands tall - she will probably be as large. 100% sound - hauled like a lady to ASAP farm from Stratford. She'll be two years old in Spring - just in time for saddle training!
April (1yr)

April, left, and Shay N Tell, right
April is a yearling registerable PAINT FILLY - being placed by reputable Paint owner who states that the horse has a chip either in her knee or shoulder. She is sound at the walk and canter - noticeably limps when trotting. For the right adopter, this horse could be surgically cured and become a wonderful horse to show and ride. Both horses are available for viewing at the ASAP farm. (See Shay N Tell's description, below.) UPDATE (9/15): April came to us from Stratford, WI and she had a resemblance to Chief, our day camp horse, without the watch eye. She was a real snorter in the beginning as she had to become accustomed to dogs, kids, pigs, and cats. Now the snorting has stopped, and April has become a very affectionate little filly. No limping observed at the walk or canter - there is a visible limp at the trot. A $500 surgery is needed to remove the OCD in her knee area - or wait it out and see if the body resorbs the chip as she grows... ASAP lacks the funds necessary to have the chips removed - perhaps you could adopt her at a reduced cost and pursue the surgery... call us.
Ruby Sign (3yr)

Standardbred gelding - approx. 15.2 hh. STRIKING BLACK with star and three white socks - ONE-OF-A-KIND, KIND FACE. Owners say he has a "different" look that sets him apart from the rest. Ruby strained a suspensory ligament two weeks ago, but some stall rest should set him right. Once recovered, he'll be fine for saddle training. UPDATE (6/02): Now at the ASAP farm. He is a sweet, loveable, sensible horse. He is going to be a marvelous pet and riding companion once he puts on weight. UPDATE (9/15): Ruby has finally arrived at his ideal weight. He is a glistening black horse who has turned brown from the eternal sunshine we have experienced this summer, but is a gorgeous horse with tons of heart. He still doesn't like our pigs, and can be a bit shy in new situations, but has been ridden three times and will be a great trail horse for the right family.
E.V. Mack (8yr)

STB gelding - bay, no markings. 15hh. Qualified last spring, and is a $250,000 winner!! His owners decided not to race this hero any more and he is on pasture rest. Mack is a TRUE CHAMPION of horse who loves people. HE HAS A BIG HEART. Update (5/15): Previous adopter noticed some soreness in has back leg when she rode him, but his lovely temperment makes him a real treasure. Can you give this sweetheart the retirement he deserves?? Please call the ASAP office for more details.
Fox Valley Sorcerer (8yr)
STB gelding - trotter. 16hh. Red with star. This horse raced until he was four years old and earned $67,000. He now has trouble with his coffin bone and and has a bowed tendon. F.V. Sorcerer prefers being in pasture. He is broke to ride but he's only suitable for a light adult or child at this point.
Victory Buck (3yr)
STB gelding trotter. Buck is on 30 days of stall rest for a broken knee, but is healing nicely. Current on Coggins and health certificate. Please call the ASAP office for more information. UPDATE (6/02): Victory Buck is at Adrienne De Master's in Trempealeau. He is only about 14+ hands, handsome - stunning - gentle - loves attention - would make a great kid's horse.
Bold n Rare (4yr)

STB mare. Contact Susan at asapinc@mwt.net for more information. This horse is currently in training with Ray Waters. UPDATE (7/24): Bold has returned from saddle training with Ray Waters, and she is currently in foster care at a farm near ASAP. Please call for more details!
Bullwinkle (14yr)

STB gelding - almost 17hh! Bay with one white sock and small crescent moon on forehead. Previous owner states that "Bully" is a real personality--he curls his lips and sticks out his tongue! Owner has this say about him, "He is a dominant horse that relates well to most other horses as long as he is the one in charge. He has arthritis in his right front coffin joint that acts up in bad weather or after strain from a hard ride. Bully has had years of training in natural horsemanship, but can be quite stubborn when the mood fits. He loves to ride trails, and wants to jump obstacles and run very fast (but he will pay for that afterwards). He needs an experienced rider, as it can be a challenge to hold him back, even if it is for his own good. Bully is very intelligent, and if asked to work too hard will pull up lame immediately (with no heat or swelling to the joint) and as soon as your back is turned after being put back into the pasture, will take off like a dart with no sign of any problem. He needs a home hopefully with other horses, as he is very social. He loves kids and is surprisingly gentle for his size. Bully is current on all vaccinations." UPDATE (8/5): Since Bully has been at the ASAP farm, we haven't noticed his arthritis at all!

Summerland (2yr)
Visit Bob's own website!
Known as Bob, this young registered, Arabian gelding is turning out to be something special. Located in Arkansas near the Ozark Mountains, his current owners have this to say about him: "He has a Coggins and health papers dated in April of this year. His registration papers are in order. I'm thinking he'll mature around 14.2-14.3 and will be a somewhat slender type, like his elegant mother. He was born black but is presently iron grey. Not that it matters in a gelding but through mama Tammy, he is a grandson of Ariston, one of the Arabian breed's most famous horses ever. His paternal grandsire, Klassic Shaklan, is a halter champion. His pedigree reads like a virtual Who's Who of Arabiandom. I've compiled a 'braggin' book' I'll send along with him to his new home if his new family wants it, complete with a 9 generation extended pedigree. He is predominantly Polish/domestic but has lines to Spanish and Egyptian horses too. The caveat is that he toes out in front, especially on his left fore and he will need to go to someone who will religiously see to his hoof care. He is absolutely sound now but if that left hoof were neglected for long, I believe it would turn to the point of no return. Also, he won't be a beginner's horse to train as he is a snorty little Arabian!" Please call the ASAP office for more details.

Abra Kadabra (22yr)

Visit Abra's very own website!
Purebred grey Arabian. She is located in Arkansas, near the Ozark Mountains along with Summerlandd Bob. Current owners have this to say about her, "She is elderly but in wonderful condition and except for a touch of heaves (she coughs if fed indoors, otherwise she's fine), she is sound. We were told she is trained for English pleasure but since I don't ride any more, I can't say if that's true or not but she's very gentle, very sweet, and very gorgeous. Her father was the wonderful Polish imported *Harbit and her dam by the multi-National Champion *Gwalior. I don't have her papers but the registry affirmed her pedigree. She no longer gets in foal, though. How we got her is a long story but she ended up in a killer pen and we plucked her out of there. She would like a human of her own and could no doubt give years of love and 'eye candy' to one. :o)" Please contact ASAP office for more details.

More Slush Please

STB gelding. This EYE CATCHING bay beauty is currently in training with Ray Waters. UPDATE (7/24): Slushie has returned from saddle training with Ray Waters, and he is currently in foster care at a farm near ASAP. Ray has stated that he is a very calm, easy -to-please horse. He stands quietly and is a good trail horse. Please call for more details!
